As I travel the 33rd Senate District, I continue to be amazed by the spirit of the people. Strong families and a strong work ethic characterize the proud citizens of Clinton, Ionia, Isabella and Montcalm Counties. It will be an honor to serve you in the State Senate.

I have worked with hundreds of small businesses during my career as a community banker. Now, I put that unmatched experience to work in the Michigan Legislature. I was honored to be named the Legislator of the Year by the Small Business Association of Michigan.

Our Daughter is Born!

The build up to a new baby is quite a journey. And while this is my third child, it was a totally new experience.

The sound of Karagan (Kara for short) crying right after birth was like music to my ears. When my son Collin was born 5 years ago, he was so premature; he could not breathe on his own. No crying, just silence. He is in Kindergarten now and doing great.

Three years ago, my daughter Reagan was so late they had to induce. We actually scheduled the delivery.

Kara was born in a very traditional way. Water broke at home, and everything about the delivery was normal - but no less amazing!

Isn't it odd that things seem less remarkable the more we understand them? But the process from conception to birth is literally one miracle after another. Somehow, there is this little person right next to me now, fully made before birth. A perfect little package.

Karagan Grace was born at 6:34 PM on February 25th. She weighed 7lbs 7oz and is 20.5 inches long. I thank God that she and my wife are doing well.
